cheeky grins for ice cream
I had expected Emmet to try and calm me again or at least react to my out burst at yelling someone almost killed me but instead he said nothing and continued lapping at the dripping bits of his ice cream with such ease it almost made me jealous of him yet of course I had become like that for a few glorious years ands there was no reason why I couldn’t stay like it. If Amy was a part of me there had to be an off switch for her somewhere. I sighed again almost defeated by everything. I had no idea how I was going to be able to fight something that I wasn’t even sure it was real; Something I wasn’t sure I wanted to fight.
I shivered at the last thought before bringing my legs upon to my seat and resting my chin on the top of my knees staring as the ice cream dribbled down the side of my cone and onto my fingers.
“Keep eating Esmee.” Emmet encouraged leaning over and taking hold of my hand that was clenched around the ice cream.
“I’m sorry Emmet,” I sighed looking away from him “I’m really sorry.”
“And so am I.” Emmet sighed back in the same tone as I had which caused me to look over at him, I hated it when he sounded so hurt over me, yet somewhere on the corner of his lips I could see a glint of a smile; the same cheeky smile I had fallen in love with over and over again.
“What for?” I asked suspiciously but before I new it he had acted and the ice cream that had been in out hands had come up to hit me square on my nose!
